National Truck Driver Appreciation Week 2026 runs September 13 through 19. For one week each September, the country pauses to recognize the 3.6 million professional drivers who deliver nearly everything we eat, wear, build, and rely on. More than 80 percent of U.S. communities depend entirely on trucks to receive their goods.

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week was built for freight drivers, and rightly so. But we would be missing something if we did not extend that recognition to another group behind the wheel: tow truck drivers and heavy-haul transport operators.

How to Thank a Tow Truck Driver
The single most meaningful thing you can do is slow down and move over when you see a tow truck on the roadside. Beyond that:
- Say thank you at the scene. Operators hear a lot of frustration from stranded motorists. A sincere thank you is remembered.
- Leave a review. A Google or Yelp review naming the operator who helped you is one of the best forms of recognition, and it helps the whole team.
- Share their work. If you see a recovery crew doing a difficult job well, tell someone. Post it. Recognition matters.
- Support the industry. Learn the Slow Down, Move Over law in your state and talk about it with new drivers in your household.
